2. Information We Collect
To provide a shared romantic and memory-keeping experience, we collect the following types of information:
- Account & Profile Information: When you register via Email/Password or Google Sign-In, we collect your email address, display name, optional gender selection, and profile avatar image.
- Couple & Relationship Data: Content created collaboratively with your partner, including shared memories (titles, notes, dates, and uploaded photos), anniversaries, relationship milestone timelines, daily couple question responses, virtual love notes, and sealed time capsules.
- Device & Notification Data: We collect Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) push tokens strictly to deliver real-time notifications to your partner (for example, when a daily question is answered, a love letter is sent, or an anniversary is approaching).
- Crash & Performance Diagnostics: We use Firebase Crashlytics to collect anonymized crash reports and app performance data to diagnose stability issues and improve app quality.
3. How We Use Your Information
Your information is used exclusively for the following purposes:
- To authenticate you and securely connect your account with your paired partner.
- To sync shared relationship timelines, photos, and memories between your devices in real time.
- To send relevant push notifications between paired partners.
- To maintain, protect, and improve the app's performance and security.
4. Data Sharing & Third-Party Services
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We utilize industry-standard, secure infrastructure providers solely to operate the app:
- Google Firebase: We utilize Firebase Authentication (identity verification), Cloud Firestore (encrypted database), Firebase Storage (photo storage), Cloud Messaging (push delivery), and Firebase Crashlytics (crash diagnostics). All data transmission is encrypted in transit using industry-standard TLS/SSL.
- Biometric Data: If you enable Biometric App Lock (Fingerprint or Face ID), biometric verification is handled 100% locally on your device by your operating system's native biometric hardware. We never collect, transmit, or have access to your biometric data.
5. Data Retention & Account Deletion
You have full ownership and control over your personal data at all times:
- In-App Immediate Deletion: You can delete your account at any time within the app by opening Settings → DELETE ACCOUNT. Upon confirmation, your authentication record, user profile, uploaded avatars, and partner associations are immediately and permanently purged.
- Web Deletion Request: If you have uninstalled the app or cannot access your device, you can initiate a data and account deletion request via our public Account Deletion Page.
- Couple Unpairing: When a couple account is deleted or unlinked, all shared memories, subcollections, and stored photos for that couple are permanently erased from our servers.
6. Children's Privacy
LoveTrail is intended for couples aged 13 and older (or 16 and older in jurisdictions where required). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If you believe that a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately, and we will promptly delete such records.
